Our Wine Weekend Getaways can be customized so that you can see, taste and sip your away around San Miguel de Allende “your way”. Choose your experiences on this 4-night getaway.

San Miguel de Allende is known as an artisan community. Explore the colorful streets for art, architecture, and handcrafts. Follow the path of Father Hidalgo from the puebla magico of Dolores Hidalgo, visit the Sistine Chapel of Mexico in Atotonilco, and sip on the best wines at three different wineries in the state of Guanajuato.

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive at Queretaro International Airport (QRO)

Arrive at the the Queretaro International Airport. Transportation from the QRO airport to San Miguel de Allende can be arranged.* Check into your boutique hotel which will be within walking distance of the main atttractions and many fantastic rooftop restaurants. Enjoy the evening in San Miguel on your own. We can help you with dinner reservations.

***If you fly into BJX airport, you will need to find your own transportation to San Miguel de Allende.

Day 2: Dolores Hidalgo, Talavera, Atotonilco and Wineries

We will leave at 9am and drive to Dolores Hidalgo, the location of the start of the Mexican War of Independence. Walk the streets where Father Hidalgo cried the famous “El Grito” that started the war. On the way we will share with you the history of the Heart of Mexico and what makes this region unique for wine-growing.

Next, we will taste the excellent wines of the Guanajuato region at two different wineries (these will be chosen base on your wine preferences). Shared appetizers will be provided at each winery.

On our way back to San Miguel, we will stop in Atotonilco, the Sistine Chapel of Mexico to give you some time to marvel at the impressive frescos of this ancient temple.

We will arrive back in San Miguel between 5-6pm, giving you time to rest or freshen up before dinner (not included, but we can help with reservations).

Day 3: Free Day to Enjoy San Miguel Your Way

Today is for you. Spend time wandering the colorful streets of San Miguel, shop at the mercado, relax at a day spa, or go horseback riding in the mountains. We can help recommend different tour services for these activities. (To be paid separately)

Day 4: Olive Oil Farm and Wine Tasting

This is a shorter excursion day. We will start late morning touring an olive oil farm started by Florida expats more than 20 years ago. A Mediterranean 4-course lunch will be included. Last, we will visit a family-owned organic winery for a special wine tasting. We will return to your hotel around 3:30pm.

Day 5: Leave San Miguel

You have the option of taking a later flight so that you can enjoy the morning in San Miguel de Allende, or you can add on extra days. Transportation can be arranged*.

  • Two lunches- one at a winery, one at an olive oil farm

  • Tour of Dolores Hidalgo and Atotonilco

What’s not included?

  • Airfare is not included.
  • Transportation to/from San Miguel is not included. This would be an additional charge.
  • Dinners and any meals when you are enjoying free time.
  • Free day activities (horseback riding, spa services, etc)

What to Know:

Airfare is not included. The Queretaro airport (QRO) is just over an hour away. The Leon/Guanajuato airport (BJX) is 1.5 hours away.

There are direct flights into Queretaro Airport (QRO) from Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH), Chicago (ORD), Puerta Vallarta (PVR), Mexico City (MEX), Cancun (CUN), and Tijuana (TIJ).

There are direct flights into the Leon/Guanajuato airport (BJX) from Sacramento (SMF), Oakland (OAK), San Jose (SJC), Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago (ORD), Chicago (MDW), Houston (IAH), Dallas- Ft. Worth (DFW), San Antonio (SAT), Tijuana (TIJ), San Jose del Cabo (SJD), and Puerta Vallarta (PVR).

We require a non-refundable $300 deposit when making your reservation and the remainder 30 days before the tour begins.

My husband and I had the most lovely wine tour with Tiffany. Not only did we learn about the wine region and the best vineyards, but also about living in the area as a local and so many great ideas for our next trip. It was wonderful, and I am definitely recommending it to my parents when they visit next year.
