This day trip is the perfect mix of outdoor fun and wine tasting. We will pick you up from your hotel and visit the tallest freestanding monolith in the world rising 1410 feet above the town, Peña de Bernal.
Bernal is a very interesting town of 2,500 people. There are supposedly more 90+ year old people per capita in Bernal than any place else on Earth. It is supposedly an energy vortex site like Sedona, Arizona. Bernal is know for its semi-precious stones mined nearby (fire opals), for goat’s milk caramel candies, cheese filled pastries and their world famous blue corn gorditas with chicharron crumbled in the dough. Many artisanal products are made and sold in Bernal, and just about everything costs $5 USD. When you finish shopping, we will go to El Negrito to sample those delicious gorditas, perhaps with a café de olla or some hibiscus water.
Next, we will visit Vinaltura, a fantastic winery with views of Peña de Bernal across its vineyard. Wine and shared appetizers will be provided. Lastly, we will visit Puerta del Lobo winery (where we filmed our House Hunters International episode!) and drink their fine wines with a dish of your choice while overlooking the vineyards.
